A volume titled ‘Balfour’s Genealogies’, containing:
1. A copy of ‘Genealogies of the Scottish nobility’ (Adv.MS.33.2.39).
2. Commission for the valuation of teinds, and proceedings of the commissioners, 1627-1643.
The description of the manuscript in the folio catalogue (F.R.187) includes the reference: (A.4.25).
Incomplete collection (lacking original pages 1-2) of fair copies, with frequent calligraphic embellishments, of royal decreets and other formal documents relating to the administration of teinds (tithes) in Scotland.
The documents are copies of originals mostly from the period 1626 to 1643, but they include a commission, January 1678, granted by Charles II, and the copyist`s hand is characteristic of the late 17th century.

(i) `De Constabulariis fet officio Constabularij Angliae`, 1628. A collection of material compiled by Sir James Balfour on the duties and powers of the Constables, including copies of charters and other documents, mostly from the Cotton Manuscripts. (Folio 1.)

Proclamation to the people of Great Britain, issued by Prince Charles Edward as Regent for his father, before raising his Royal Standard, initialled C P R and dated in the Prince's hand, Paris, 16 May 1745.
The proclamation is preceded by a copy of Prince James Edward's commission appointing Prince Charles Regent, Rome, 23rd December 1743, counter-signed by the latter 'Charles P.R.', and bearing his seal as Prince Regent.
This is the original manuscript, the lay-out of which is exactly followed in the printed copies.
It is accompanied by a note on its history, 1887.
